Colorado Springs Painting FAQs

Question 1

What painting and coating services do you provide?

Accepted Answer

We provide residential and commercial painting, exterior coatings, interior painting, stucco repair and coating systems, deck staining and refinishing, and garage renovation work. Your written proposal explains the recommended scope for your property.

Question 2

Do you provide free estimates in Colorado Springs?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We begin with a conversation about your project and property, then provide a clear written estimate so you understand the recommended work before moving forward.

Question 3

How do you prepare an exterior before painting?

Accepted Answer

Proper prep is what separates a finish that lasts from one that fails in a season. The exact steps depend on the condition and materials of your specific exterior — we'll walk you through what's needed when we do your estimate.

Question 4

Who handles the cleanup?

Accepted Answer

We do. You just sit back and relax while we take care of every detail. When we are finished, there will be no sign we were ever there—other than a perfectly smooth finish.

Question 5

Can you repair and coat stucco?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We assess visible cracking, wear, and coating failure, then recommend repairs and a coating approach that fits the condition of the stucco and the exposure of the property.

Question 6

Do you require a deposit?

Accepted Answer

For most jobs, no deposit is necessary. Deposit needs depend on the specific scope and requirements of your project, and we will clearly explain anything needed in your written proposal.

Question 7

Are you a licensed contractor in Colorado Springs?

Accepted Answer

Yes, our company is licensed in Colorado Springs.

Question 8

Are you insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We carry workers' compensation and liability insurance. Certificates of insurance are available upon request.

Question 9

How long will my painting project take?

Accepted Answer

Project timing depends on the size of the property, surface condition, weather, drying time, and the work included in your proposal. We discuss the expected schedule before work begins and keep communication clear along the way.

Question 10

Do I need to move furniture or prepare the space?

Accepted Answer

For interior work, we will explain what to move or protect before the scheduled start. Our crew treats your home or business with care and protects the work area throughout the project.

Question 11

What products do you use?

Accepted Answer

We recommend durable systems suited to the surface and Colorado Springs conditions, including Sherwin-Williams products and elastomeric coating options when appropriate for stucco and exterior protection.

Question 12

What is the lowest temperature you can paint or apply stucco?

Accepted Answer

For exterior painting and coatings, the minimum safe application temperature is 35°F (1.7°C) for air and surface, with temperatures staying above freezing for at least 24–48 hours afterward while the coating cures. For stucco repair and stucco coatings, we require a minimum of 40°F (4.4°C) due to the material's greater sensitivity to cold. In both cases, we prefer working when temperatures are consistently above 50°F for the best long-term adhesion and durability. Colorado Springs weather can shift quickly in fall — if you have painting or stucco work that needs to get done before winter, contact us as soon as possible to get on the schedule while conditions still allow.

How long has Confident Coatings been in business?

Question 17

How much does stucco repair cost in Colorado Springs?

Accepted Answer

It depends on what's wrong — a small patch and a full re-coat are different planets, price-wise. That's exactly why our estimates are free: we look at it in person, tell you straight whether it's a patch or a project, and give you a firm number on the spot. No guesswork over the phone.

Question 18

What's the difference between patching stucco and re-stuccoing?

Accepted Answer

Patching fixes a damaged spot. Re-stuccoing (or re-coating) covers the whole wall with a fresh, uniform finish. If the damage is isolated, a patch is the honest answer. If the stucco is failing in multiple places, patching is lipstick on a pig — we'll tell you which one you're looking at.

Question 19

How do I know if there's water damage behind my stucco?

Accepted Answer

Look for blistering, bubbling, soft spots, or staining that keeps coming back after rain. The scary part: stucco can look fine on the surface while water is getting in behind it. If you're seeing any of those signs, get eyes on it before winter — freeze-thaw turns small problems into big ones.

Question 20

How long does exterior paint last in Colorado?

Accepted Answer

Colorado is brutal on exteriors — intense UV, hail, and 40-degree temperature swings in a day. A quality job with proper prep holds up for years; cheap paint over bad prep can fail fast. We engineer our coatings for Front Range conditions specifically, which is most of the battle.

Question 21

Are Confident Coatings and Fox Coatings the same company?

Accepted Answer

No. Confident Coatings & Exteriors, Inc. has no affiliation with Fox Coatings — not a sister company, not a rebrand, no shared ownership or crew. Confident Coatings is family-owned and operated by Bart Rafferty and his sons Patrick and Peter Rafferty, and has served Colorado Springs for over 30 years. To verify you're talking to the real Confident Coatings, call 719-492-3176 or visit 3101 N El Paso St, Colorado Springs, CO 80907.

Question 22

Has Confident Coatings changed owners or names?

Accepted Answer

No. Confident Coatings & Exteriors, Inc. is the same family-owned company it has always been — owned and operated by Bart Rafferty, with his sons Patrick and Peter Rafferty on every project, for over 30 years. Same name, same owner, same crews, same phone number: 719-492-3176.
