Confident Coatings once fully painted a customer''s neighbor''s house by mistake. Here''s what happened — and what it taught us about trust.
Thirty-plus years. Three generations. Thousands of homes painted, coated, and brought back to life across Colorado Springs.
And one house that was never ours to paint.
The Day We Got It Wrong
Years back, our crew showed up, set up, and painted a whole house — prep, coats, the works. Beautiful job. One problem: it was the neighbor's house. We didn't find out until the actual customer called asking when we were going to start on theirs.
It's the kind of story that's funny now. It was not funny then.
What We Did Next
Here's the part we're proud of: we didn't dodge it, blame the GPS, or pretend it didn't happen. We owned it on the spot, made it right with everyone involved, and changed how we run every job day since.
Addresses get triple-checked now. Every time. No exceptions.
That's not a policy we wrote down in a binder somewhere. It's something we live by because we learned it the hard way — in front of a customer, on a job site, with no good excuse to offer.
Why We Tell This Story
We tell this story because it's the truth, and because it says more about us than any five-star review could.
When something goes wrong on our watch, we fix it. That's the whole business model, really. Thirty years of showing up, doing the work right, and standing behind it when it isn't.
A lot of contractors will tell you they do quality work. Fewer will tell you what happens when they don't. We will — because that's the only way you can actually trust us.
What This Means for Your Project
So if you're looking at your stucco wondering whether it's a patch or a project, or your siding's seen one hail season too many — call the company that painted the wrong house once and never hid from it.
We'll show up to the right address. We'll do the work right. And if something ever isn't right, you'll hear from us before you have to ask.
That's the Confident Coatings promise — not because it sounds good on a website, but because we earned it the hard way.
